Is the score a real SAT score?
It is an Elo rating laid onto the SAT scale: 400 floor, 1600 ceiling, moved by real questions at rated difficulties. It is a live estimate that tightens the more you play, not an official College Board score.
What happens in the placement?
Five adaptive questions. Answer right and the ladder serves harder; miss and it steps down. Your starting score is the level you actually held, not the count you got right.
Why does my score barely move above 1400?
Summit gravity. Above 1400, gains shrink toward zero at 1600 while losses stay full size, and above 1500 only apex questions still pay. That’s why a 1500 here means something.
Can I really lose points?
Yes. Miss a question below your level and your score falls, exactly like the real test punishes careless errors. Skips move nothing: walking away from a bad fight is a skill.
Do I have to duel my friends?
No, but you can, and the stakes are real rating points. Friends also show up with head-to-head records, so you always know who is ahead and by how much.
